YG’S FEMALE SOLOISTS, GUMMY AND LEE HI – A FAMILY FEUD IN MARCH

All eyes are on the only two female soloists in Korea’s YG Entertainment, Gummy and Lee Hi, as they are expected to compete neck to neck in music charts at the beginning of next month.

On February 27 Gummy will release an original sound track Snow Flower for an SBS drama That Winter, the Wind Blows starring Cho In Sung and Song Hye Gyo, while Lee Hi’s first regular album goes on sale on March 7.

YG’s only two soloists are gaining attention because, by releasing albums so close to each other, they will consequentially be in competition with each other. Fans are intrigued that Gummy, who is lending her voice to the big hit drama, and Lee Hi, the record-breaking rookie, have now become friendly rivals.

Gummy is widely known for her powerful and soulful voice as a female soloist, and Lee Hi is now dubbed the “Monster Rookie” after breaking several records last year. The two female soloists’ distinctive voices will make their competition in the music charts even fiercer.

Lee Hi will make her comeback exceptional by performing in SBS’s Survival Audition K-Pop Star 2. It is a rare choice for an artist to choose this particular show instead of a music program, but her decision to perform in K-Pop Star 2 is expected to set a good example for current contestants.

Following Gummy and Lee Hi, YG’s artists are making their comebacks this spring. G-Dragon is releasing his new solo album and Psy is releasing his own in the United States, and from 2NE1 to Kang Seung Yoon, March will be filled with YG’s new music.

YG fans have something to look forward to this year as the entertainers who ranked number 1 in Korea Pop Music Power will be releasing a variety of their new music.
